Hello loyal fans and readers!

I just want to thank you all for stopping by the table during Comicon. I wasn’t able to be there as much as I originally planned, but maybe you were lucky enough to grab a random sketch from me or let me completely dominate you at Connect Four.

….well, most of you.

I’d have to say that I’ve had a great deal of fun drawing this comic, and I’m so incredibly proud to have been involved with this sad, hilarious, and mildly demented writing that managed to capture the attention of so many.

Unfortunately, this was my last run with the IDK site as the designated artist.

It’s not you, it’s me.

Er… uh…

I mean, I think we should see other people?

No, no that’s not right…

I love you, I’m just not IN LOVE with you… readers…

Let’s still be friends?

In August of 2009 I approached Will and told him that I had bought a url, and that I wanted to make a webcomic. I wanted to draw, and I asked him to write. The short lived comic Easier Said was born, revolving around a hopeless romantic named Lucas and his terrible best friend Reed.

In 13 comics, Lucas managed to be hit in the face with a soccer ball 4 times, meet a romantic interest, lose her phone number, have a 4 page car chase with an elderly woman, and almost crash into a tree all while maintaining witty banter with Reed.

That winter, my tablet broke.

Desperate to maintain some sort of artistic outlet, when Will approached me with a few short comics he wanted to do to tie us over I immediately jumped on them. They were hilariously fun and dark, and it was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. By the time I had a new Wacom, I had become more accustomed to the new style of comics we were doing. Jumping into full pages with intricate details and color seemed so intense in comparison to our short one liners. We decided to stick with his created IDK Comics, and perhaps pick up Easier Said later down the road.

For any of those that read the original Easier Said comics, you’ll see the similarities of Lucas and Reed in the main puzzle piece we use, and that strange piece we use with it (in his writing they have just been dubbed “MP” for “main piece” and “WP” for “weird piece”).

We’ve gone strong; have had a lot of ups and downs, and plenty of comics. I think IDK Comics can stand without me easily. In these past few months, I just haven’t had the tools or the drive needed to keep up with my wacky, ambitious writer. This has become much bigger already than I could have even dreamed and it’s all thanks to him. Whether this comic continues after I leave or not, his writing will no doubt continue to reach people through the magic of the internet so long as the site stays standing.

I still plan on finishing Three Little Pigs with him, so this won’t be the last thing we put out together. I can say that I don’t think I’ll ever work with another writer as talented as he is. Finding a good team can sometimes be near impossible, but I think that their aspirations towards the future need to be more aligned.

I’ve always drawn simply for the sake of drawing,

but Will writes with a purpose.

While I’m not always sure what that purpose is, it exists. It exists for the people out there who have managed to pick up a button, hear about it from a friend, or stumble upon it while perusing the World Wide Web.

Hopefully, he’s touched some of you.

Not… not like, TOUCH touched. That’s just inappropriate. I mean, how would that even be possible through the internet? We’d have to develop some sort of new crazy invention allowing physical matter to… or… or maybe he’s just flying out to random cities and feeling up our readers? That would really be concerning, considering I know some children have accidentally come across us. Probably because of their parents. What kind of parent would leave up this website with young kids around? Obviously this humor isn’t suitable for people that age. C’mon, I drew a comic containing a talking penis for April Fool’s day. Is that really the kind of thing you want to expose our youth to?

Is it?

Anyway, fondling aside, please give Will the feedback he needs and let him know what you think. Comment on this blog, on the comics, or even vote on the surveys.

Don’t think I won’t come back to check on you.

If anything new comes up, I’ll be sure to have him relay it to you.

That’s really all I have left to say for now. Again, thank you for all of your support and I hope you continue to give it!

Co-Creator and former IDK artist,

Cierra Wiley
